United we stand….
Tuesday, May 23, 2017.
I, like the rest of the world, wake up to horrible news.
I sit at the kitchen table, trying to sip my usually oh-so-craved coffee.
The smell of it, so anticipated as the beginning of a productive morning..
Its sinewy fumes always a sign of a sunny new day..
Today there is no sun; today there is no beginning.
It’s a sad day.
A day that, unfortunately, is not the first in its nature.
All I can think about now are the families, the teenagers, the children.
I have no inkling towards writing any posts right now.
This blog is about goodness – but in this moment, to me, there seems to be pretty much none of it in this world.
I get up from the table and close my laptop.
Now (22.18 p.m.)
I’m not sure why certain terrible, devastating things happen. I can’t conceive a hatred that would wreak this kind of havoc.
And I know I’m not the only one feeling this way today. In fact, I’m just an infinitesimal drop in an ocean of people that represents the exact opposite of this hatred. An ocean that surrounds us everyday, that is stronger than any bomb, any bullet, any stray truck.
At the end of this day, I choose to see how anger highlights peace; how fear pushes courage to grow; how death makes life stronger; how today makes tomorrow a better future.
At the end of this day, the bad makes the good shine brighter.
And onwards we go.
